"What would Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania look like if Linke's manifesto for the state election on 20.9.2026 were fully implemented?"
AI explanation
The image shows Rostock-Warnemünde with offshore wind farms at sea and energy facilities at the harbor, representing the expansion of wind power, battery storage, and a regional hydrogen economy — the energy transition is meant to be socially just while strengthening regional value creation (p. 10–11). Modernized port and industrial facilities symbolize preserving and modernizing shipyard sites and expanding the maritime industry, with civilian shipbuilding, offshore technologies, and new business fields for the maritime economy to be specifically supported (p. 11). A clearly visible health center represents the expansion of local medical care, integrated care networks, and additional medical services, especially in rural areas (p. 24–27), while modern public buildings along the promenade show investment in public services, municipal infrastructure, and a capable welfare state (p. 8–9). The largely car-free promenade with plenty of public space and high quality of stay symbolizes the ambition for sustainable tourism, social participation, and livable cities (p. 11).
What was hard to depict?
Housing and rent caps
- Housing as a basic right, social housing construction, and permanently affordable rents (p. 4–5) can only be hinted at through new construction activity, not shown in detail.
Education drive
- More staff, smaller groups, better equipment, and extensive investment in daycare and schools (p. 1–4) are institutional measures with no direct visual language.
Democracy and anti-fascism
- Expanding civic education, promoting democracy, and consistently countering right-wing extremism (p. 5–7) have no spatial equivalent.
Labor and social policy
- Higher collective-bargaining coverage, better working conditions, codetermination, and stronger social protection (p. 9–15) are labor-law measures with no visual equivalent.
Equality and social participation
- Measures for equality, inclusion, queer policy, and anti-discrimination (p. 17–22) are barely visible in a single cityscape.
About the project
This project pursues two goals:
- Motivating people to engage more deeply with the concrete content of state election manifestos – with a new AI-based approach.
- Inviting you to think about your influence on your state's political future. Your vote in the state election is an important tool for actively shaping the region's future.
AI and state politics
The election manifestos were processed by an AI agent that analyzes what each state would look like if its manifesto were fully implemented. The resulting visions were used to generate images with Flux by Black Forest Labs (a German AI company).
The results are unedited and all based on the same prompts. They are meant to illustrate, not to serve as a voting recommendation.
AI exhibitions & shows
Our earlier project bundestagswahl.ai was already exhibited in several German cities as part of the 2025 federal election – among others in Tübingen, Essen, Berlin, Zwickau and Bernau. Visitors and school classes were guided through the exhibitions and could discuss the "future visions" together.
We're just as happy to exhibit the wahl.land images! If you'd like to show them yourself, just get in touch and we'll provide the print files and instructions free of charge.

FAQ
How were the future visions created?
The parties' election manifestos were processed by an AI agent that analyzes what each state would look like if the manifesto were fully implemented. The resulting visions were used to generate images with Flux by Black Forest Labs (a German AI company).
Do the images represent a voting recommendation?
No, absolutely not. The visions serve solely to illustrate political programs and to encourage critical debate. They do not replace independent political judgment.
Why aren't all states available yet?
The project is growing step by step. Each state requires careful preparation of the manifestos and AI generation of the images. New states are being added continuously.
Are the images edited?
No, the images are unedited and shown exactly as generated by the AI. No changes were made afterward.
