"What would Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania look like if Grüne's manifesto for the state election on 20.9.2026 were fully implemented?"
AI explanation
The image shows Rostock-Warnemünde with a large offshore wind farm off the coast, representing the accelerated expansion of renewable energy and the designation of additional sites for nature-compatible offshore wind power in the Baltic Sea (p. 5). Battery storage and modern energy infrastructure in the foreground symbolize the expansion of energy storage, smart power grids, and better use of renewable energy, in which citizens should also be able to invest financially (p. 3–7), while solar installations on buildings show the greater expansion of photovoltaics on roofs, public buildings, and other suitable sites (p. 5). A continuous bike path along the coast symbolizes the expansion of a safe, comprehensive bike-path network and greater support for everyday cycling (p. 14–18). Two harbor porpoises in the water represent stronger protection for the Baltic Sea and its biodiversity, such as through restoring marine habitats like seagrass meadows and reefs (p. 9f), while the overall modern port and coastal landscape shows the buildout of a climate-neutral maritime economy with offshore wind power, modern port infrastructure, and sustainable shipping (p. 19–24).
What was hard to depict?
Housing policy
- More social and affordable housing plus an active housing policy (p. 37–40) can't be condensed into a single image motif.
Education and science
- Investment in daycare, schools, universities, and better conditions for research and teaching (p. 29–36) are institutional measures with no direct visual language.
Healthcare
- Securing local medical care, nursing care, and maternity services (p. 41–45) has no spatial equivalent in the aerial image.
Democracy and civil rights
- Strengthening democratic participation, transparency, and the protection of civil liberties (p. 49–58) are abstract institutional measures with no visual equivalent.
Social justice
- Measures against poverty, for social participation, and supporting families and disadvantaged groups (p. 46–65) can't be depicted visually.
About the project
This project pursues two goals:
- Motivating people to engage more deeply with the concrete content of state election manifestos – with a new AI-based approach.
- Inviting you to think about your influence on your state's political future. Your vote in the state election is an important tool for actively shaping the region's future.
AI and state politics
The election manifestos were processed by an AI agent that analyzes what each state would look like if its manifesto were fully implemented. The resulting visions were used to generate images with Flux by Black Forest Labs (a German AI company).
The results are unedited and all based on the same prompts. They are meant to illustrate, not to serve as a voting recommendation.
AI exhibitions & shows
Our earlier project bundestagswahl.ai was already exhibited in several German cities as part of the 2025 federal election – among others in Tübingen, Essen, Berlin, Zwickau and Bernau. Visitors and school classes were guided through the exhibitions and could discuss the "future visions" together.
We're just as happy to exhibit the wahl.land images! If you'd like to show them yourself, just get in touch and we'll provide the print files and instructions free of charge.

FAQ
How were the future visions created?
The parties' election manifestos were processed by an AI agent that analyzes what each state would look like if the manifesto were fully implemented. The resulting visions were used to generate images with Flux by Black Forest Labs (a German AI company).
Do the images represent a voting recommendation?
No, absolutely not. The visions serve solely to illustrate political programs and to encourage critical debate. They do not replace independent political judgment.
Why aren't all states available yet?
The project is growing step by step. Each state requires careful preparation of the manifestos and AI generation of the images. New states are being added continuously.
Are the images edited?
No, the images are unedited and shown exactly as generated by the AI. No changes were made afterward.
